My Morning Green Juice

Your Skin loves green food! Greens are super high in Vitamins A, C and K, as well as many minerals. They are anti-inflammatory, alkalizing and a wonderful source of skin protecting antioxidants. Out of the recommended 8-10 daily servings of fruits and veggies, I like getting at least 4 from greens. I try to eat one BAS (big ass salad) every day, but I get most of my greens in before my first meal! How? My morning green juice!

This greens in this recipe are the star, but I also add in some other amazing ingredients for gut health, detox support and alkalizing potential. Celery is wonderfully hydrating and healing for the gut. Lemon is great for the gut and alkalizing along with apple. Turmeric is very ant-inflammatory and wonderful for skin health. Blending this “juice” means you get all the fiber and all the nutrients!

Some tips for making this juice:

  • Make sure all the ingredients are organic and washed to avoid any unwanted pesticide residue.

  • Drink this juice immediately after making it, and before coffee or any food in the morning- you can also add ice to make it colder.

  • You’ll need a high power blender for this one. I like Vitamix or the Oster Versa for a more budget friendly option.

  • for best results – drink every morning, alternating greens (kale, baby lettuce, spring mix spinach, bok choy, romaine, collards, or blends make great choices!)

  • do NOT use bitter greens like arugula. yuk

 

Morning Green Juice

INGREDIENTS

6 cups greens of choice

2 1/2 cups purified water

1 lemon

1 green apple

2 stalks celery

1/2 banana (optional to make juice sweeter)

1 inch piece turmeric root (or 1 tsp powder)

 

DIRECTIONS

add greens and water to blender and blend together

juice lemon, peel turmeric root (if using), chop apple and celery

add all to blender, followed by turmeric powder (if using)

blend again on high until completely “juiced”
